BSL holds regular consultation meetings with a wide cross section of the Boyne Island and Tannum Sands community members to ensure two-way communication takes place and information is shared.

The community forum was first developed in late 2005, and is held quarterly. Hosted by the BSL General Manager, the community forum covers topics including health, safety, environment and community performance.

Every year, community members undertake a tour of the site to give them a greater understanding of the smelting process, and meet some of the people responsible for making it happen.
